It’s time for my second “quarterly” spelling/punctuation/grammar rant of 2018 (see first rant here) on what has to be the most common spelling/punctuation/grammar/orthographic mistake in the English language — the misuse of it’s (or its’) for its. Here are 10 new examples of that misuse collected from CD comments and other sources on the Web, starting with a two-fer above from President Trump. 1. Alliance University has followed suit, and has recently upgraded it’s tech-enabled classrooms to be on par with……

2. The profit incentive corrupts by it’s very nature.

3. Due to unexpected circumstances the newsletter will not be produced in it’s entirety today.

4. China buys U. S. Smithfield Foods, the largest pork producer in the world, and then imposes tariffs on it’s own pork.

4. There’s no question that North Topsail Beach has suffered some serious destruction from it’s proximity to the ocean.

5. As a result of continuing quality increases, the average age will continue it’s trajectory.

6. The phrase “fine bootmakers” lived up to it’s promise with my recent purchase.

7. It is cherry picking at it’s worst.
